I was talking to my husband Chris about getting this post up this weekend (he shot it, like most of my posts) and I told him that I was thinking about just sharing images from here on out — that no one actually wants to read blog copy anyway. I feel like blogs lately all just read the same... I bought this shirt, I wore it with these pants (yes people can see that in my photos already) etc. I've had a hard time writing something and feeling like it's saying nothing? If that makes sense? Chris kindly reminded me however that an image-based platform like that very much exists already (called instagram...) and that I could probably try a little harder to write interesting content for each post instead :) Touché.
All of this rambling to say, I haven't quite decided how I'll be using this space. The creative outlet for me is in creating the images - scouting locations on mini adventures with my husband, looking at things in my closet differently to style a new outfit. I think with starting a new job and meeting a lot of new people lately I am also feeling a little bit exhausted from talking about myself so much (do you know what I mean?! "Hi! I'm Meg, I just moved from X, I used to work at Y," over and over again) and having a blog was feeling really self-serving. HOWEVER. My goal here is create inspiring but relatable content. So far, that's meant a lot of pictures of myself wearing clothes, because honestly that is what I know how to do (and what I knew I'd miss most about my career in fashion). I take pride in authenticity and I truly do this for fun - I have a full-time career that I am extremely passionate about and I have no "goals" for this space other than to continue "creating" lifestyle content for fun now that I don't do that for a clothing brand professionally anymore (which I should write about at some point too - I can't believe how much I've learned by switching industries in retail). I look forward to pushing myself to share more of the other aspects of my life (our home, our travel, how I buy 80% of our furniture on craigslist, my career as a young 30-something, our dog!!) and other things that I find inspiring in leading a ((slashing attempting a)) well-balanced life.
On that note - is there anything you've been curious to see more of here? Our new house? My unhealthy JCrew earring collection? What I eat for breakfast (kidding...)?
