Guest-ready with Serena & Lily
We’re gearing up for holiday season, which at our house, means steady stream of out-of-town guests. I don’t have any family in Connecticut, so any visitors typically mean overnight guests. This is a big reason that we were dead-set on a 2.5 bathroom home (harder to find then you’d think in our town of old homes). All three of our bathrooms are tiny but they do the trick, and the vintage pink tile in our guest bath has slowly grown on me.
Over the last two weekends C and I deep cleaned the guest room, moved some furniture around, and finally purged the closet in there that’s been collecting things we don’t need since we moved in. We’d love to get new furniture in there but are waiting until Nell is ready for her “big girl room” when we can determine which room will be our permanent guest room and what pieces would fit best. For now, we spiffed up the room with new luxury linens (this duvet, sheets, sham, quilt and throw pillow) and a floor-length mirror (made from teak branches that would otherwise be thrown away, so cool right?). We wanted a good long mirror in the room because our bathroom is super tight and definitely doesn’t provide adequate room for getting ready. One of my favorite things about the house we rent in Maine is how beautiful and soft the linens are - it makes me feel like I’m staying in a hotel and I want our guests to feel like that, too! I always layer our duvet with a quilt for that extra detail that allows guests layer up or down depending on their preferences. There’s nothing worse than being cold and not wanting to wake your host for more blankets!
We also freshened up our sweet pink bathroom with new striped guest towels and a soft white bathmat to make it feel a bit bigger. I like how the wide blue cabana stripe pulls in the colors in the painting and mimics the striped paper on the wall. While it isn’t our dream bathroom, there is something about a vintage tiled bathroom that will always feel homey to me. The super deep original cast iron tub doesn’t hurt either!
Serena and Lily is currently offering up to 30% off bedding and bath during their “Sleep Well” event if you’re also in the “holiday nesting stage” at your own home. This is my dream bed for our master and I’m going back and forth on if I should invest now or wait until we’re ready to tackle the entire room! I have to be pretty picky in terms of bed as we’ve moved ours in front of a window and need something with a low headboard. I also love this daybed for a future guest room; could be great for a dual-purpose office/playroom/etc!
Thank you to Serena & Lily for providing product for this post.
