Hi, I’M MEG.

I live in West Hartford, CT with my husband Chris and our baby girl Nell. We love classic American style and bickering about whose turn it is to unload the dishwasher. Glad you stopped by!

Guest Room

Guest Room

Here we are, rounding out 2021. One of my goals this year was to finish the turning Nell’s nursery into a proper guest room and I’m laughing at myself that I wrapped it up just in time to - surprise! - turn it back into a nursery. Not a bad analogy for the year, actually…:)

None the less, I am excited and relieved to share this little project right under the wire for my personal deadline! I’ve shared bits and pieces of it before but never in it’s entirety. It took me a bit to shoot it as I was waiting on the new rug which, of course, arrived very soon after I finally caved and shot this. Squint if you can and picture a great textured jute underfoot.

This room is the only room in the house that hasn’t been painted - the previous owners chose this color and C and I disagreed for years if it was blue or grey. Color us both perplexed when we found the paint in the basement and learned it’s actually “Green Tint” by Benjamin Moore! It changes color in any light and is one of the more timeless true colors (i.e. not white/gray/tan) that I’ve stumbled upon. It needs a fresh coat for the twins but I’m tempted to keep it again!

I can also see myself re-buying this scalloped-edge Wave Duvet in two twins for the boys in the future as I can’t get enough of the crisp white with the neat blue edging (similar if you like something more simple). I layered in another favorite, the Oxford Stripe, which I am already planning to snag as crib sheets. Like I said, it isn’t lost on me that I FINALLY finished this room and am already starting to reimagine it. We will most likely move eventually now that we’ll have three kids, so at least it will be easy to recreate! I used the same duvet and pillow inserts that I use in every bedroom in our home. They are the down alternative as we run hot but they are luxury-hotel level quality and never disappoint. Both are staples worth investing in! I like a layered look/feel so I like to add a bed blanket over the sheets. Keeps your duvet nice and clean as well :)

The focal point of the room for me is my beloved vintage dresser, and I love how it contrasts with the glossy white laquer and modern lines of the Atelier Side Table. The lines are SO clean, actually, that you can’t tell that the middle shelf is actually a drawer - I kept putting the TV remote in there and C and Nell would lose it that there was no drawer when they were trying to access it. The lamp is an oldie but a goodie, I prefer the chunkier, more stout silhouette of the Midbrook Table Lamp as it’s a better scale. I sourced the shade down an Amazon rabbit hole but recommend measuring for your exact lamp as shades are a finicky fit!

The throw pillows are a mix of old and new (similar gray plaid here, my wool one is old Serena + Lily) but unfortunately I can’t seem to source any of them exactly. aside from the tan gingham.

Bed (c/o EQ3 - VERY happy with it!)

Gold blanket ladder ($50! I disagree with the reviews as I like that it’s smaller and light!)
