Mother's Day Gift Guide
It’s almost Mother’s Day and I felt like I was late to the gift guide game…until I remembered who buys gifts for Mother’s Day (men) and the timeline in which they do so (much later than right now). I’ve been adding things to this folder for the last few months and it makes me so happy to see this little round up of things I love so much!
I bought these monogrammed vanity cases a few years ago and they are still the hardest-working travel items I own! Such a great gift.
Floral design is one of my hobbies and I am always looking for the perfect, universal vessel. I spotted this Juliska Berry & Thread hurricane on my friend Julia’s table recently and immediately added it to my list! I had to include the Tory Burch Lettuce Pitcher I just got for my birthday - I went with the white but will always have a soft spot for the classic green.
Speaking of friends, we recently had epic margaritas (just Spindrift for me ;) with friends at their new home and C was obsessed with their rattan tumblers. I finally caved and ordered four of these in anticipation of my first post-baby cocktail.
Similarly I got these vintage-inspired star etched wine glasses a while ago and they are always the star of the tablescape (pun intended) when we entertain. They are so timeless and add just a little something to my typical all-white dinnerware. Not something I’d think to buy for myself, a nice splurge for mom!
While we’re on the topic of entertaining, I’ve accidently started a small collection of Sabre pieces. They feel so lovely in your hand and work on both a dressy or casual table. I used to have a hard time finding the brand but it seems to be getting more available in the US. You know I hate clutter so instead of curating a separate set of things, I’ve been replacing ragged yard sale finds from our apartment days with tortoise, wood, and cream Sabre serveware one piece at a time. This pie server and this cheese knife are next on my list!
If you haven’t picked up Bab’s bestselling cookbook yet, now is the time! Perfect Mother’s Day gift and everyone in the world loves Babs.
I know candles can be overdone but this new LAFCo scent is heavenly - the perfect gift for your Mother-in-Law or the mom who has everything. Light, spring-y, and not at all tropical like the name would suggest.
Once the twins are born and a little older I can’t wait to have my talented friend Vana of Vana Chupp Studios create silhouettes of their sweet profiles. A great gift to mom but let her choose the inspiration photos ;) I noticed she’s also offering handwriting on jewelry now - incredibly special little charm if your kiddos are old enough to write!
While on the topic of jewelry, I always recommend these brass and glass jewelry boxes. So affordable and they look so pretty on your dresser! I also have this version to keep my sunnies dust-free.
If you want a little upgrade, C got me this Cuyana case stamped with my monogram for Christmas; it’s deeper and one open space so it’s perfect for larger pieces.
If there is one thing every Mama in the world needs more of it’s self care - this might be a stereotypical recommendation but the Dyson Blowdryer has made a huge difference in my hair! One of the very few pricey hair products I’d say are totally worth it.
The other “worth it” beauty find I will never NOT recommend as the ultimate luxury gift is my Current Body LED mask. It’s worked wonders on my skin with consistent use, especially with a hydrogel underneath once a week.
Another spendy favorite is my Gucci Padlock mini bag. Worth every penny in my book as it dresses up, down, and in between beautifully and will never go out of style. I love that it’s both brown and black, too, for ultimate versatility. It’s also mostly coated canvas (durable AND lightweight) which gives me peace of mind in my investment as a busy mom with little ability to be too “careful” with things currently!
If you’re looking for a more budget-friendly mom/work/do-it-all bag, this tote is a workhorse and the external pockets make it so easy to find things.
I pre-ordered these Freda Salvador Sport Slides back when there was still snow on the ground and was elated that they are as good as I thought they’d be when they showed up this spring. So well-made (like everything FS does) and they elevate all of my “less than casual” weekend looks. I ordered true to size. These classic Birks have a similar color palette if you’re looking for something a bit safer.
Now that there isn’t actually snow on the ground anymore, I’ve started refocusing on outdoor dining (esp for these next two months between “it’s frigid” and “it’s hotter than hell” that New Englander’s know so well). My mind was blown when I found this simple $68 bar you can attach over your outdoor table to string up lights, florals, you name. Why didn’t I think of that?! If you have a smaller patio like we do, I love these teak table and simple benches that let you pack in the max possible # of people and kiddos.
My other outdoor entertaining favorite are these acrylic Juliska stemless glasses. They look so beautiful on the table but you seriously can’t hurt them (toddlers included). I love to wrap four up with a bottle of wine for a hostess or housewarming gift.
I have almost no green thumb unfortunately (arranging things other people grew is much more my speed) but I live and and die by my secateurs. This olive wood pair is my FAVORITE and such a great price point for gifting. They slice even hearty branches like a breeze and look pretty, which is nice since I seem to leave them out on the counter far more than C appreciates :-D
I keep my indoor planting to basically…ferns, at this point, but even a simple fern looks gorgeous in a piece of Berg Pottery. I discovered these scalloped beauties on a work trip to Denmark a few years ago and was thrilled to find them available at Terrain a few months ago. I bought one for everyone on my team for Christmas last year as a nod to our Danish work heritage :)
If experiences are more your thing, I recently bought (and gifted) Willow Crosly’s Fundamentals of Floristry Course from Create Academy. It’s nice and dense and broken up into small chunks you can take at your own pace. Perfect for busy moms - I can’t wait to zone out for a few sessions with a glass of rose this summer.
Tennis skirts are my new leggings and hands down Tory Sport makes my favorite. I have this one in white and could use a second. I’d say order TTS or go up one if you want a bit more forgiveness. This windbreaker also has my heart - that print!! All three of these are a bit splurgy and make perfect gifts IMO!
Last but far from least, my favorite Mother’s Day gift of all time will forever be a Yearly Co. bangle. Female (and mama) founded, my Yearly bangles are some of my most treasured possessions. I never take them off and can’t wait to pass them down to my children one day. The best way to gift a bangle is to order a sizing kit to give as the gift - the lucky mom can then determine their perfect size, which Yearly Co. will keep on file permanently for easy custom ordering. Yearly Co. has generously offered a limited a number of free sizing kits with code MegHall. I have a bit of catching up to do on my own stack but am waiting for the twins arrival to determine what to prioritize - they are both boys so I’m debating between having an engraved bangle made for each that I can give to them and/or their future partners + children OR if I add them both to Nell’s for one family bangle. I will keep you posted with what I decide!
